Cookie Policy
Last updated: 10 July 2026
This explains the cookies and browser-storage entries DotMD uses. We use only a small number of strictly-functional ones, and no third-party advertising cookies.
1. What we use
DotMD stores a few small values in your browser so the app works and remembers your preferences. Only the first is a cookie; the others are kept in your browser’s local storage, not as cookies:
- a session / authentication cookie that keeps you signed in (strictly necessary);
- a theme preference (the `dotmd-theme` value, in local storage) so the app remembers light or dark mode;
- a sidebar-layout preference (in local storage) so the workspace layout persists between visits.
2. Why we use them
These are strictly necessary or purely functional: the session cookie is required to sign in and use the Service, and the preference values simply remember your theme and layout. They are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking, and we do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. Our product analytics are first-party and do not rely on third-party tracking cookies.
3. Third-party cookies
When you make a payment, checkout happens on Stripe’s hosted pages, and Stripe may set its own cookies under its own policy. DotMD itself sets no third-party advertising or analytics cookies.
4. Controlling cookies
You can clear or block cookies and site storage in your browser settings. Clearing the session cookie signs you out; clearing the preference values resets your theme and layout to their defaults. Questions? Contact us at
